In late March Lauren Ann Russell of Buncombe County was arrested in connection to the fentanyl overdose death of Sarah Mizell. Russell was charged with Death by Distribution.
On Tuesday, June 13th a second warrant for arrest was obtained, by Detective Brandon Wilson of the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office, for 36 Year old James Tyler Kimbrell, of Buncombe County, in connection to Sarah Mizell’s death.
James Kimbrell was charged by a Buncombe County Magistrate while in custody in the Buncombe County Detention Center on unrelated charges. He has been charged with Death by Distribution and had a first appearance hearing in Yancey County on June 16th. During the hearing a judge ordered bond to be increased to $500,000.
The Yancey County Sheriff’s Office is leading the ongoing investigation into the death of Sarah Mizell with the assistance of the NC SBI.
