Brenda Cole Young, age 65, of Burnsville passed away in her home on June 23rd, 2023.
A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of Troy Cole and Betty Garland Cole.
She was preceded in death by her father, Troy; mother, Betty; stepmother, Norma, and her grandmother, Madge Edwards.
Brenda loved crafts and there wasn’t a craft that she could not do once she tried. She was an avid quilter, who also loved to crochet, knit, and cross-stitch. She enjoyed gifting others with one of her creations. If she wasn’t found crafting in her craft room, she would be found working endlessly to perfect her flowers and plants. She also had a passion and a love for all animals, especially horses. More than any of these other things, she had a deep love for her husband, children and grandchildren.
Surviving is her husband of 45 years, Doug Young; son, Marc Young (Lorah); daughter, Jayanna Gillespie (David Mark); grandchildren: Jillian and Judah Young, and Ava, Noah-Jay, and Annalise Gillespie; brothers: Johnny Cole, Tim Cole, Scottie Cole, Daniel Cole, and Micheal Garland; sisters: Donna Cole, and Merinda Bean.
A private graveside service will be held for the family.
