SIZZLIN’ SUMMER SERIES – Lotería, Lawn Games, and Summer Square Dance!

Enjoy a morning of fun and culture on the town square during the Sizzlin’ Summer Series this Saturday, July 15. There learn some traditional Appalachian steps during the square dance and join in classic childhood games and Lotería from 10am to noon.

The Town Square will be divided into sections featuring some of Pisgah Legal Services staff’s favorite childhood games. Decorate your own Lotería Board, learn to play Lotería – a Latin game similar to Bingo – or master your gameplay with some large yard games, featuring Connect Four. Then hop to success in the Hopscotch Section and learn about all the wonderful programs and services Pisgah Legal Services offers.

Bring your dancing shoes for the Sizzlin’ Summer community square dance! Learn some traditional southern Appalachian figures and clogging steps, led by Appalachian Performing Arts staff and members. Grab a partner, bring your family and friends, or come solo. Plus visit the AMY Regional Library Bookmobile to find your next summer read.

A program of Partners Aligned Toward Health, Healthy Yancey is a partnership of concerned citizens working together to improve the quality of health for all people in Yancey County. Healthy Yancey developed the Sizzlin’ Summer Series in an effort to increase connections between neighbors and people, increase physical activity, and create fun ways to play and be active in our community.

Thank you to Pisgah Legal Services and Appalachian Performing Arts for making this week’s event possible and The Yancey Fund, Madison Health and Rehabilitation, and the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina for making this year’s Sizzlin’ Summer Series possible!
