Delaney Janet Leierzapf, age 21, of Cary, NC (and her boyfriend Caius Jaymes Arrington, of Mitchell County, NC) was tragically taken away after a car accident on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
Born on November 2, 2001 in Leesburg, VA, she was the daughter of Jeffrey and Julie Leierzapf. Delaney was named after her late grandmother Janet Leierzapf, and great aunt Janet Mullen. Delaney is survived by her parents, her siblings Jaiden and Quinn Leierzapf, and her puppy Ginger.
Delaney was a 2020 graduate of Athens Drive Magnet School in Raleigh, NC. She had a passion for dance and was a member of the Athens Dance Team. In Virginia she was a member of the Dance Academy of Loudoun and in North Carolina she was a member of Cary Dance Productions. Delaney was studying psychology at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC with plans to work as a School Counselor. She was also working as a Program Coordinator for the Watauga County Afterschool program. She loved to bring happiness to those around her and found joy in making others’ smile.
Delaney had met the love of her life, Caius Arrington, whom her world revolved around. They were inseparable in life and will remain together, forever in heaven. Their love was truly one of a kind. They loved to hike together on the Blue Ridge Parkway. They were looking forward to building a life together in Boone, NC.
Delaney spent her life laughing, dancing, teaching, spending time with family and friends, and giving back to those around her. She had a genuine heart, contagious laugh, and beautiful smile. She had an infectious enthusiasm for life and was pure sunshine. She touched so many hearts, and will be deeply missed. May her life be an example for all. Love big. Laugh often. Find joy in everything. Bring light and goodness to the world.
Services will be held at Triangle Community Church, 4216 Kildaire Farm Road, Apex, NC 27359 on Sunday, July 23 @2:30pm.
A scholarship has been established in Delaney’s honor. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ms. Delaney Leierzapf Scholarship fund, C/O Watauga County Schools, 175 Pioneer Trail, Boone, NC 28607.
