Ted Berry, age 77, of the Georges Fork Community, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 10th, 2023.
A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Della Bryant Berry. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Wanda Berry who passed away in 2014; sister, Neva Silvers and a brother, Ray Berry. Ted retired from GTE Phone Services after 28 years. He loved the Lord, fishing, building birdhouses, woodworking, restoring old cars and especially loved his kids and grandkids.
Surviving are his children: Randy Berry and wife, Shirleen; daughter, Karen Street and husband, Jimmy, all of Burnsville; grandchildren: Jason Woody, Amber Stafford and Charlie Berry; great-grandchildren: Cambria Woody, Dixie Stafford and Tara Stafford; sisters: Mildred Silvers and husband, SW, Lillian “Kat” Silvers and June Silvers and a brother, Gene Berry and wife, Maddie all of Burnsville. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 13th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Brandon Thomason and Rev. Holt Whitson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Eddie McMahan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the services.
