Mental Health and Wellness Center To Open

A much needed mental health and wellness facility is set to open to serve our area in August. On Tuesday, July 18th, Mission Hospital cut the ribbon on its new Sweeten Creek Mental Health and Wellness Center.  The new 82,000-square-foot center includes 120 beds for in-patient treatment and also spaces for out-patient care. The multi-million-dollar center will provide treatment to all age groups beginning at age 4 through the geriatric years, providing separate indoor and outdoor facilities for both. One out of five or 20 percent of the population, has some sort of mental health struggles they deal with.

According to Melina Arrowood, COO of Mission Hospital Behavioral Health, the focus is on delivering care and meeting the demands of the area today and into the future. “We’ll continue to grow as our community needs us to,” says Arrowood, “so we can provide the appropriate level of care for our patients.”

In addition to dedicated areas for counseling and treatment, the facility includes spaces for art, music, horticulture and even an indoor basketball court that can be purposed for a wide variety of needs.

The new center is located off Sweeten Creek Road near the I-40 exit.
