Gas

The price of gas in the U.S. at any time has little or nothing to do with who is president at that time. The the market price of crude oil on the world market is the primary determinant of gas prices in this country. Period. Full stop. Domestic actions by a U.S. president in the short term are just not a determining factor. As for energy independence in terms of oil and gas. The U.S. is not and has not been energy independent under a U.S. president of either party. Period. Full stop. Those are both inconvenient facts that all modern presidents have had to reckon with.
