On July 20th, Judge Gregory Hayes set the next hearing date for Richard Eugene Towe Sr of Marshall in the alleged shooting of 19 year old Cody Jonathan Garrett. Towe is accused of shooting Garrett with a crossbow in September of 2021. According to Madison County Sheriff deputies Garrett was shot and killed with a crossbow on Upper Brush Creek Road near Madison Middle School. Sheriff Buddy Harwood has said that Towe and Garrett knew each other. No motive has been discussed in the alleged murder. Towe is being held in Madison County Jail under no bond until the hearing set for September 8th
