Silencing Us AND Them

Medicalization of who people are, intimidation into silence, and detention based on metal illness, real or imagined, have long been tools, sometimes well-meaning but misinformed or misused tools, to silence, hide, or criminalize all kind of behavior across the political spectrum. Marginalized communities like women, LGBTQ people, immigrants, indigenous people, Black people, etc., have been particularly at risk. It good to see something the right and left agree on when it comes to criminalizing or detaining people based on mental illness. The criminalization of poverty has worked this way for a long time.
