I have a question. Has anyone actually figured out, bothered to figure out, if Yancey County QUALIFIES for the program that the surrounding counties qualify for, CEP, the one for the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts”? Counties have to be willing to both prove it and admit it in order to participate. Some of these counties wanted to participate for years and could not. Now they can. This is a whole lot more complicated than some folks seem to realize or maybe want to understand. Personally, I don’t think it should be that complicated to feed hungry children, but that is the reality at the moment.
