Murray Styles, Jr. “Junior”

Murray Styles, Jr. “Junior”, age 98, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 6th, 2023.

A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Murray and Hettie Brinkley Styles.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Silver Styles who passed away in 2014; brothers: Kivet, Roosevelt and Jay Styles; nieces and nephews: Shirley Phillips, Teddy Hall, Doris Laughrun (Ray), Eloise Williams (Albert), Billy Styles, Philip O. Styles (Billie Jean), J.C. Styles (Virginia “Gin”), Donald C. “Buster” Styles and Jim Parrish.

Junior was a US Army Veteran.  After he came out of the army, he ran Styles Grocery until 1972.  He then worked at Henredon Furniture until his retirement.

Surviving are his nieces and nephews: Peggy Jones (J.B.), Susan Parrish, Wade Styles (Mary Jo), Thelma Ann Hughes (Jack), Wilma Garland (Rev. Philip), Katie Evans (Jim), Diana Wooten (Curtis), Erma Styles, Bobby Phillips, Gail Hall, Gladys Styles and Jewell C. Styles.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9th in the Pete Young Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V.   Chaplain Joe Bennett, Dean Wilson and Rev. Philip Garland will officiate.
