On August 7th, a Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to serve Clifford Gauge Crain, when he came upon Crain walking on Wyatt Town Road. Crain resisted, and during the altercation, both Crain and the deputy ended up in the flood waters of Crabtree Creek. Crain and the deputy both exited on opposite sides of the swift-moving waters. Crain was located a short time later using a drone and was taken into custody and transported to the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office.
Clifford Gauge Crain, 30, of Burnsville, was charged with Felony Assault Emergency Personnel, Resisting Public Officer, Injury to Personal Property (2) counts, Failure to Appear on Misdemeanor (4) counts, and IV-D Non-Support Child. Crain is being held in the Yancey County Detention Center under a $17,500 bond.
