Charlotte Stapleton

Charlotte Stapleton, age 90, of Deer Park Lake Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at her home.

Born on February 19, 1933 in Unicoi County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Paul A. and Ella Garland Willis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James William Stapleton who passed away in 1978. Also preceding her in death were her brothers; Paul A. Willis, Jr. and Frank A. Willis.

Charlotte was a member of the Pine Branch Baptist Church. She was retired from the Spruce Pine Community Hospital with twenty-five years of service. She enjoyed white water rafting, reading and working crossword puzzles. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory is her sons; Jim Stapleton and wife, Laura of Nebo and Ernie Stapleton and wife, Tracie of Spruce Pine; her daughters; Princes Gilley and husband, Charles of Burnsville and Carol Tolley and husband, Lee of Spruce Pine; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 4:30 pm on Thursday, August 17, 2023 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge and also to her special friend and caregiver, Stacie Howell for their wonderful care of Charlotte during her illness.
