The Altapass Convenience Center in Spruce Pine will be closed until further notice due to a fire that occurred in the cardboard bundling area around 7:45 p.m. Monday night. It was contained by 9:00 p.m. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
Mitchell County Government would like to thank the Parkway Fire Department, Spruce Pine Fire Department, Bakersville Fire Department, and Green Valley Fire Department for their prompt response for their efforts battling the blaze.
