Kenneth Henry Suddreth, age 90, of Spruce Pine, went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. A native of Mitchell County, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Willis Suddreth, who passed away in 2018; his parents, Lloyd and Ina Mae Jones Suddreth; and five sisters: Virginia McKinney, Erma Guy, Lois Jones, Wanda Weatherman, and Monlee Buchanan.
Kenneth was a lifelong member of Berry Chapel Baptist Church. He always put his family first, and was good to them all. He loved his family and his dog, Emma, but especially his wife, Shirley, whom he missed until they were joined together in heaven. After she passed away, he talked to her every night after his prayers.
Surviving is his son, Kenneth Suddreth; daughter, Deborah S. Dysart and former husband, Frank; granddaughter: Tanya Mann; two grandsons: Trenton Suddreth and wife, Kim, and Trae Suddreth; two great-granddaughters: Keisha Hughes and husband, John, and Allison Suddreth; great-grandson, Joey Dysart and wife, Victoria; and nephew, Bobby Guy and wife, Lisa. He is survived as well by several other extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at Berry Chapel Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 30th. Pastors Steve Williams and Greg Hollifield will officiate. Burial will follow in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V. Pallbearers will be Kenneth, Trenton, Trae and John. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday, August 30th.
