Betty Jean Carter Eckard, age 77, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023 at Mission Hospital. A native of Newton, NC, she was a daughter of the late Pinkney and Woodie Hedden Carter. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Harold, Robert, Richard, Joe and Kenny. Betty was always putting others first in her life. She loved to camp, flowers, and especially her husband, who calls her a true jewel.
Surviving is her loving husband of 52 wonderful years, Barry Eckard; brothers: Marvin Carter and Doyle Carter and wife, Janie and a sister-in-law, Bessie Carter. Several other extended family members from Hickory and Newton also survive.
