I’m not originally from this area, though I am originally from a similarly rural place in another state and have been here a long time. Biggest problem I’ve ever had with people around here is with some newcomers and some people who “aren’t from around here” who are convinced they are being kept from doing things and getting jobs because they aren’t from around here. While I’m sure that happens, the people who whine the loudest never seem to be seeing the situation very clearly. The loudest whiners usually aren’t included or getting jobs because they are behaving badly and not seeming to be too smart. Look around, folks. There are newcomers and people without seven generations in the ground who have jobs and even get elected to office. They just aren’t arrogant pains in the neck, they communicate well, they do their homework, they’re pretty smart and they aren’t trying to deceive anyone.
