Attended Regional annual meeting & queried several senior staff attendees on what value Yancey County Commissioners would add to the library if they took it over. Every person said, “Nothing”, other than restrictions on displays, books & reduced funding. After witnessing the 180 degree turnaround by the Commissioners from “we’ll maintain the status quo” to, “we’ll renew our effort to take over the library” sure gives on pause relative to the issue of power & control vs improving quality & scope of service doesn’t it!
