Needed change anywhere, including this area, and the kind of change self-interested whiners may want, well meaning or not, are different things. Many of “our” families, kids, and neighbors have NOT left this area. Others have left for reasons that HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH jobs or economics. Not everyone here thinks, feels or talks the way that many people stereotype the rural people who have been here for generations. It isn’t very smart for anyone around here to be taking instruction or advice from the narrow-minded people who believe those stereotypes and think “we” are all alike. That is a truth that doesn’t hurt anyone. Stop thinking about insiders and outsiders as those from around here and those who are not. Lots of “outsiders” have lived here for generations. Wrap your head around that. You can’t tell your players without a scorecard and a lot of people are buying scorecards that don’t have all the players listed. A lot of “us,” native and newcomer, want change “you” and “they” don’t seem to be able to imagine.
