And the same people who brag about our past influence and leadership as a country seem incapable of understanding how “we” created the model for polluting. We can’t control what other countries do, we can control what we do, admit our mistakes, and become a model for changing the economy so that it does not include destroying the atmosphere. We are the major market for the goods and services produced by many of the highest polluting countries. Our economy drives and instructs theirs, we have met the enemy and he is us.
