Farm City Day

This year N.C. Cooperative Extension, Yancey County Center will be hosting a Farm City Day Celebration. The event will take place October 7th from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the Burnsville Town Square. Come out, bring the whole family, and join us in celebrating the importance of agriculture in our community, while enjoying a 60ft inflatable obstacle course, games, Pelican’s SnowBalls, informational booths, contests and more!

If you have ever wanted to know more about what N.C. Cooperative Extension in Yancey County has to offer, including farming, gardening, canning, family and consumer science or 4-H youth programs, be sure to stop by the event and talk to the local agent.

Have you created, baked, grown or preserved something amazing this year? Enter it in our Handmade and Locally Grown contest which will be held during our Farm City Day on October 7th. Entry categories include: Baked Goods, Preserved Foods, Locally Grown and Arts & Crafts (Fabric Art, Photography, Wood & Natural Materials, Paper Crafts, Jewelry and Miscellaneous). This contest is open to youth and adults. Entry is FREE and best of show, 2nd Place and 3rd Place will be awarded in each age and entry category. Best of show winners will receive premiums.
