Maphra Fox Robinson

Maphra Fox Robinson, age 91, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, September 13th, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Loubirdia Deyton Fox.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, G D Robinson; her daughter, Benna Robinson Davenport; sisters: Gladys Cordell, Axie Elkins, Cora Elkins, Myrtle Robinson and Eula Walker and a brother, John E. Fox.  Maphra was a member of Green Mountain Freewill Baptist Church who was a dedicated prayer warrior.  She was famous for her peanut butter cakes and her chicken and dumplings.  Maphra was an avid shopper for herself and her family.

Surviving is her daughters: Kathy Beaver and husband, Herman, of Burnsville and Anna Winters and husband, Arnold, of Spruce Pine; sons: Harold Robinson and wife, Gail, of Vilas and Darrell Robinson of Burnsville; son-in-law, Richard Davenport; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 16th in the McCracken Cemetery.  Rev. Anthony Ponder and speaker Richard Davenport will officiate.
