Bobby Carter Lewis, II, “Booge”

Bobby Carter Lewis, II, “Booge”, age 50, of Dogtown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 15th, 2023 at his home.

A native of Avery County, he was the son of Bobby Carter Lewis, Sr. “Goose” and the late Dottie Lewis who passed away in 2019.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mark Lewis “Tater”, who passed away in 2021; paternal grandparents, C.B. and Lucille Carter Lewis, and maternal grandparents, Chester and Elizabeth Stafford Norris.

Booge was a graduate of Avery County High School, and enjoyed coaching  youth baseball and basketball in Avery County, as well as coaching a basketball travel team.  He worked for Ethan Allen for 13 years, and then went on to work for Avery Mitchell Correctional Institute for over 18 years.  He attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a member of Cranberry Masonic Lodge #598 A.F. and A.M.  He loved to fish and ride his Harley, and dearly loved his niece, Brook.

Surviving is his father, Bobby Carter Lewis, Sr. “Goose”; his sister, Laura Sparks and husband, Josh, of Minneapolis, and his niece, Brook Sparks of Minneapolis.  Several other extended family also survives him.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20th at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  Pastor Remington Austin will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service at the church.  A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 22nd at the Minneapolis Cemetery with Honors by the N.C. Department of Adult Correction Honor Guard.
