Apologies for the broken link, it was a cut and past error. Here’s the correct one. https://today.duke.edu/2020/07/new-paper-examines-disproportionate-effect-eugenics-nc’s-black-population But the research does not prove your inaccurate point. The names and shows eugenics for what it really was, how ieugenics is defined and how it has been used, including how it has been used against Black Americans. Again, No matter how you feel or think about abortion or abortion policy as it currently exists in this country, it may be many things, but it is not eugenics. The film you cite is part of an anti-abortion, anti-birth control campaign aimed at a Black audience. Being anti anything is fine, but film repeats elements of a white conspiracy theory by coopting many of the same arguments previously used by Black activists in different contexts. That is disingenuous. The film uses highly questionable statistics and facts to induce fear in the viewer. Again, pretty much anything regarding healthcare, particularly maternal healthcare, negatively affects the Black community disproportionately in America. It’s disgraceful, but it’s not eugenics. |
