Evelyn Ada Stanley Bennett – June 4, 1933 to September 30, 2023

“In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Our loving, precious mother, grandmother, sister and friend was called away to her new heavenly mansion on September 30th, 2023. Evelyn Ada Stanley Bennett of the Buladean Community went Home to be with her Lord and Savior.

Evelyn was a lifelong member of Mountain View Baptist Church. She spent many years working at the Holly Inn in Pinehurst, NC. When she returned to the mountains, she worked at Modern Globe Manufacturing, Ellen’s Knitting Mill and American Thread Company, as well as being a mother and homemaker.

A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Esta Gouge Stanley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, D.C. Bennett, and her siblings: Lee Stanley, Charles Stanley, Herman Stanley, Gibbs Stanley, Donald Stanley, Gertrude Agnoli and Helen Candler.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters Rita Grindstaff and Tammy McKinney (Larry Hughes) of Bakersville, NC; granddaughter, Ramona Jarrett (Tim) of Greensboro, NC; grandsons: Dereck McKinney and Jacob Grindstaff, both of Bakersville, NC; siblings: Shirley Pitman of Spruce Pine, NC, Lola Morales of Hopkins, SC, Bill Stanley of Charleston, SC, and Earl Stanley (Jean) of Cochranville, PA; sister-in-law, Audrey Stanley of Oxford, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be held at the Mountain Home Veterans National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN. A special memorial will be held in the spring with the date and time to be announced later.
