Burnsville Mayor Russell Fox was injured in an ATV accident Saturday evening, September 7th. Fox was taken to a Johnson City hospital after the accident for a couple of weeks then on to rehab in Atlanta. He is now recovering at home. Judy Buchanan is the appointed Mayor Pro Tempore. She has served in that position for many terms under several Mayors. The Mayor Pro Tem is appointed by the Council at the organizational meeting that occurs after each municipal election. The appointed person assumes the duties of the Mayor anytime the Mayor is unavailable for meetings. Town Manager Heather Hockaday handles day to day operations for the town. Mayor Fox is expected to resume his duties at the November meeting.
