After reading your post on recent state funding and the obvious differences between Mitchell and Yancey disbursements (53.4 million including over 14 million for athletic facility upgrades at Mitchell HS in Mitchell county, 6.5 million for a YMCA, while only 4 million in Yancey with ZERO dollars for any education or athletic facilities). I ponder, exactly what the elected leaders in Yancey county are doing other than running outstanding teachers out of town and moving about 30% of high school student education and classes to Mayland Community College. 53.4 to 4? It’s time for change folks.
