So let me see if I’m reading correctly what you just said in your post: if Mitchell County is getting more money for sports and facilities then Yancey BOE must not be doing their jobs (I’m paraphrasing)?
Yet, if you look at the Yancey BOE agenda/minutes from tonight’s meeting 10/16/23, there are several items that suggest congratulations is in order for the Yancey BOE and several teachers/faculty members for YCS. These include being #1 in THE STATE for secondary education Biology, consistent EOC test scores growth over the past 3 years, MULTIPLE teachers who contributed to their field being in the top scorers on EOC testing in the state of NC, including several that were #1 in their grade/field. PLUS they are getting state of the art facilities for trades education, which America needs skilled people right? I mean, how many of our youth go on to derive a lifetime of income out of those state of the art sports facilities? It’s fractional to be honest.
Wow! Yancey County did all this on a FRACTION of the budget Mitchell County is getting? I think the Yancey BOE and YCS are doing a bang-up job, all on a budget, while some are just over in the corner mad it wasn’t them getting the recognition. Let’s keep this awesome Board going!
