Yancey County Schools report card for student performance is top notch. Yancey County teachers and students do very well. The performance of students has always been at the top in the state and region. The concern that people have is with the current school board. The current school board act as if they are solely responsible for the students and teachers doing as well as they have done. I have never had a board member help my child study for a test or teach them a subject with a test. This board wants all the glory for everything. Yancey County Schools is about the children, not the adults who think they are running it. There is nothing transparent about this school board. There have been too many highly qualified teachers and administrators leaving the county to work elsewhere. Why are the teachers and principals leaving this county?
