Tommy “Tom” Cal Wise, of Spruce Pine, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the age of 52. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. A native of Mitchell County, he lived his entire life in Spruce Pine. Tom was born on July 17, 1971, a son of Ruby Wise and the late Wilburn Wise.
Tom was a hard worker. He held a variety of roles throughout his life in a quest to always stay busy but loved landscaping and lawn care work the most. In addition, he spent much of his free time tinkering with woodworking and projects around his home. Everyone who knew Tom knew he was kindhearted. He was a devoted son and father and was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
The light of Tom’s life was Ann Crowder, with whom he shared his love and made lasting memories. In addition to Ann, Tom is survived by his mother, Ruby Wise; his son, Jeremy Wise; his brother, Timothy Wise (Nicole); nieces: Brooke Wise and Ashley Wise, and nephew, Blake Wise.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on October 28, 2023, at Altapass Church of God. Pastor Steve Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in the McKinney Gap Cemetery on Altapass. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
