Duarad Alden “D.A.” Robinson

Duarad Alden “D.A.” Robinson, age 84, of the Double Island Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Yancey County, he was a son of the late Sam and Lillie Thomas Robinson.  He was also preceded in death by six brothers: Harold, James, Dewey, Brown, Wyman and Dorian, and two sisters: Inez Anglin and Lois Woody.

D.A. was a welder by trade and taught welding at Mayland Community College.  He was a member of Double Island Baptist Church.  He loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.  He loved to tell stories and had never met a stranger.  He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Surviving is his loving wife of 65 years, Ruby Bradford Robinson; four sons:  Marty (Kathy), Mike (Debra), Matt and Mark (Jamie) Robinson; six grandchildren: Kayla, Ian (Katie), Tori, Ronni, Levi and Sam; five great-grandchildren:  Kayson, Haley, Maverick, Asher and Novah; two brothers: Ira Robinson (Emma) and Lloyd Robinson (Annette); sister, Ila Kay Robinson Farris (Jim), and two sisters-in-law, Hope Robinson and Opal Smith.  He is survived as well by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 2nd, in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Service.  Rev. Dwight Boone and Pastor Rick Woody will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Double Island Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V.  Pallbearers will be Marty Robinson, Michael Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Mark Robinson, Ian Robinson, Phillip Forbes and Dennis Woody.  The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the services.
