Received a e-mail from Rep Chuck Edwards in which he endorsed the new House speaker. Here’s by comment to him:
Rumor has it that Rep Johnson, the new GOP House Speaker, is an election denier, worked to make the January 6 group tour of our Capital happen, is homophobic and wants to eliminate women’s access to reproductive health care…but those are just rumors, right?! If I recall during the last administration several CR’s were passed without debate or amendments & our government spending increased several trillion dollars, unapposed. Imagine many American’s, like myself, are bracing for the impact of a very long government shutdown. Of course that doesn’t have to happen if sufficent number of House GOP members stand up & are countered….but why do I doubt that! Many, many, Americans are concerned about the near & long term impact of climate change, runaway, scary AI development, lack of a fair, humane efficent immigration policy from the House & the insanity of the explosion of semi-auto weapons nationwide when the Founding Farthers endorsed a well armed militia, with flintlock weapons, when our standing army was very small. Other those points am anxiously awaiting positive action on the aforementioned. BTW, federal tax in a gallon of gasoline has been $0.19 since late 1990’s & the price of oil is set by the world market place, not our President.
