The Town of Spruce Pine has responded to an allegation that appeared on the Let’s Talk Spruce Pine Facebook page on Monday, November 6th. The Town’s response was as follows:
“A third-party group recently posted on their Facebook page that it had confirmed that the Office of the North Carolina State Auditor was initiating an investigation of the Town of Spruce Mayor, Town Council and staff for “violation of State law.” As confirmed today by the Office of North Carolina State Auditor, the State Auditor does not release any details nor confirm any information concerning any alleged investigations, including whether or not the State Auditor is even conducting an investigation, to the general public. As of today, the Town of Spruce Pine has not been notified by the State Auditor concerning any such investigation.”
