A man is being held on murder charges after a shooting Thursday, Nov. 9, in McDowell County. Jeffery Allen Higgins, 38, is being held under no bond, McDowell County authorities said Thursday night.
Deputies responded to a call about a disturbance and shooting on Fairview Road in the Marion area. The victim died from his injuries, McDowell County officials said Thursday night.
Earlier in the day, authorities said the suspected shooter had been identified and was being interviewed. Sheriff Ricky T. Buchanan said by Thursday night, charges had been filed. The Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the NC State Bureau of Investigation.
The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of the next of kin.
