I would just like to take a minute to brag on our Mitchell Mountaineer football team. Before the season started what you heard was the team was young and lost some good players, all true, might be a little down this year. But what they didn’t know was, the fight and determination these young men have in them. They put in the hard work and finished up the season strong, competing for conference championship, winning their first round playoff game and then traveling to Mount Airy to face a very good Mount Airy team. The Mountaineers came in as big underdogs, but our Boys were not intimidated at all, and let them know we’re not going to hand it to them. The game didn’t turn out the way we wanted, but the Mountaineers never quit and for a half had that Mount airy side real quiet. I just want to give a big Thank You to all that keep the big Mountaineer machine running. Thanks to the coaching staff, the players and all the people who are behind the scenes who make Friday nights something to look forward to. Excited and looking forward to next year! Go Mountaineers!!
