The Avery County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with multiple animal-related cruelty charges.
Investigators have charged 35 year old Aaron Ray with 11 counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals, one felony count of cruelty to animals and 12 counts of abandonment of animals.
Deputies were alerted by the Avery County Humane Society of 12 dogs being brought into the facility, 11 of the 12 being Great Dane/Bulldog mix puppies and one adult female Great Dane. According to the report, one puppy unfortunately died shortly after being brought to the Humane Society.
The mother was very weak but is currently in the process of being adopted and going to a good home, while remaining puppies are still being cared for and will be available for adoption in the near future.
