Destiny Charé Finley entered into her eternal home on Thursday, November 16th, 2023 surrounded by her family and friends by her side at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital from a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Destiny was born on January 15th, 1995 to Debbie Hughes and the late Donnie Finley.
Destiny joins her daddy, Donnie Finley; her aunt, Jackie Hughes; sister, Brandi Finley; papa, Butch Hughes; grandparents, Ernest and Lucy Burleson, and Papa Donald and Hazel Finley.
A native of Avery County, Destiny was a member of Crab Orchard Church in Newland, but visited other churches with her friends and family as well. She enjoyed gardening, planting her favorite flowers, going to the beach, photography, traveling, Japanese food, chicken casserole, ketchup, watching crime documentaries and driving fast. She especially loved spending time with her dog, Presley James. She was a past telecommunicator for Watauga County Emergency Services, the town of Boone Police Department and Watauga Hospital, and loved her work and her work family. Destiny loved helping people and she wanted to save the world. Destiny was a straight shooter and admired you if you were too as well. If you were her friend, you were truly blessed.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Debbie Hughes Finley of Newland; one brother, Dustin Finley (Amber) of Newland; Nanny Reba Hughes of Newland; two nieces: Zoie and Willow; two nephews: Eli and Greyson Finley of Newland; many cousins, several aunts, and one special uncle, Jon Finley of Marion, as well as her dog, Presley James Finley. She was their Destiny and they will miss her greatly, but her family and loved ones know they will see her again in eternity forever.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 25th at Powdermill Baptist Church. Rev. Dustin Dellinger and Rev. Lucas McKinney will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the services at the church. A private graveside service for immediate family and close friends will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 26th at Yellow Mountain Cemetery.
Destiny had complete faith in her two hospice nurses, Tammy Burleson and Suzan Clark of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, as well as Dr. Joe Barker. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge at 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
