Dear Senator Budd, Watched your informative video on your & other Senate GOP members pushing SecDef to change the DoD policy in support of Senator Tuberville’s stifiling of senior military promotions which is on him, Senator Tuberville’s, & not SecDef. The cost of pregnancy termination & ancillary expenses to taxpayers is chump change relative to DoD’s huge budget so that consideration doesn’t fly as a defense. In addition, and as we know, Senator Tuberville wants to dedcate womens’ health care/reproductive rights….just so happens women are 50% of our population and those in the military contribute greatly to our nation’s defense . No woman takes an abortion lightly and great consideration is given in making a decision to terminate. Recent states’ legislative initiatives relative to women’s reproductive rights has hands down been voted in favor of allowing women to make their own reproductive/health care decisions, that should carry over to the female military members as well. Women in the military are not second class citizens. If a woman selects an abortion that’s on her & her partner and caregiver. Consequently if she wants to carry to full term that’s on her as well. That said raising a child while in the military is difficult at best & should be her, her partner’s & health care providers decision not a beauacrat’s.
