Ora Mae Renfro Bailey, age 89, of Conover, gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023 at her home.
A native of the Bradshaw Township in Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Myrtle Miller Renfro. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Bailey; great-grandson, Dalton Coleman; sister, Grace Robinson and brothers: Ray, RC, Lloyd, Glen, and Bernie.
Ora Mae was a quiet, kind and loving soul who enjoyed canning, gardening and working in her flowers. She loved sitting on her back porch and watching the squirrels and birds.
Surviving are her daughters: Dianne Blizzard (John), Joann Mackey (Kevin) and Kathy Bailey, all of Conover and Karen Cook of Hickory; sister, Nora Metcalf of Brummetts Creek; sister-in-law, Mildred Renfro of Burnsville; grandchildren: Chris Rayfield, Terri Lail (Shannon), Mark Coley (Tiffany), Scott Moneely, Britteny Miller, Tiffany Scott, Reshad Scott, Dumetz Scott, Veda Scott, Alisha Cloer and Bobby Cloer; great-grandchildren: Slade, Hailey, Logan, Preston, Tatiana, Dillon and Kayla. Several other extended family also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21st in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Skip Weiford will officiate. Burial will follow in the Tipton-Griffith Cemetery in the Tipton Hill Community. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
