Yancey County Department of Social Services will begin taking applications on 12/1/2023 for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program for households containing an elderly person age 60 and above or households containing persons that receive services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS).
Households that do not contain a person age 60 and above or a person that receives services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) may begin applying 1/2/2024 for this assistance.
Applications will be taken by phone again this year with no signature required. Applicants do not need to come into the office but may do so if they wish to. We will be taking applications until all funds have been used or until March 31. You may call 828-682-6148 with questions and/or to complete an application.
Applications are also available in a file cabinet under the carport at the DSS office. You may complete the form and drop the application in the green drop box located on the island outside the office. We are also happy to mail, fax, or email an application form if requested.
