Charles W. Silvers, age 74, of Penland, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 17th, 2023. A native of Mitchell County, he was the youngest of twelve children to the late Lewis and Rose Carpenter Silvers. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Ella Mae Silvers; sisters: Jennie King, Grace Biddix, Bessie Smith and Maude Silvers; and brothers: Roy, Paul, Perry and L.D. Silvers.
Charles was an outgoing, natural storyteller with a warm personality who loved making those around him laugh and smile, and was always cracking jokes. He had an infectious smile with the brightest eyes and charming dimples. He had a love for animals, but his greatest admiration was for his grandchildren, who were the loves of his life.
Surviving are his daughters: Andrea Silvers of the South Toe Community, Amber Silvers of Old Fort, Holly Silvers of the Penland Community, and Kim Bowman (Jeff) of Moore, SC; son, Jacob “Jake” Silvers of the Penland Community and a step-son, Harlos Silvers (Wendy) of Deep Gap; and sisters: Wilma McMahan of Estatoe, Louise Bishop (Bobby) of Newdale and Francis Prewitt of Morganton. Seven grandchildren, fourteen nieces and nephews that were like brothers and sisters, and several other extended family also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 27th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Toby Crowder will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
