Having just driven halfway across the state, I am left perplexed as to the gas prices in Yancey, which are the highest I saw anywhere, including Asheville (except around Biltmore House). From Spruce Pine to Charlotte, gas prices are lower – in Charlotte a huge metro area, most stations advertised $2.79. In Marion $2.87. So why are Burnsville stations still charging $3.21 and up?
