Toe River Chamber Ensemble Hosts Free Holiday Concert

Get in the holiday spirit with the annual Holiday Concert of the Toe River Chamber Ensemble on Tuesday, December 19, 7:30 pm, at the First Baptist Church on the Burnsville Square. The over twenty-some members, led by director R. Kevin Paul, include musicians from Mitchell, Yancey, Madison and Buncombe counties.

The all volunteer group meets weekly for rehearsals and performs concerts throughout the year. The musicians are of all ages and professions: students, doctors, librarians, restaurant owners, teachers, retirees, students and more. All playing for the love of music.

The Holiday Concert, always a local favorite, includes a variety of music including selections from the holiday movie “Suite from the Polar Express” by Alan Silvestri, “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by J.S. Bach, and various other pop and sacred arrangements of other holiday favorites.

The concerts are always free (donations gratefully accepted), and most frequently held at the First Baptist Church on the Burnsville Square. The church, though not affiliated with the orchestra, is the kind host for rehearsals and concerts.
