An independent, whether they are willing to admit it or not, ALWAYS sways to the left or right. They just don’t want to commit to either side. That’s ok, but most of the time they are just lying to themselves by not admitting they are on the side they sway toward.
As far as common ground goes, I think it is clear that the “tolerant left” are the most intolerant people on the planet right now. The left are the ones who accuse anyone on the right of being a racist, a bigot, homophonic, transphobic, xenophobic, a nazi, etc. They are the ones accusing anyone of being a grandma killer if you didn’t buy into the fear mongering surrounding covid and didn’t wear a stupid cloth mask that didn’t prevent anything. Accused anyone who didn’t take an experimental vaccine of being a murderer. Accuses people who don’t believe in 100 genders or believe it’s not ok to mutilate, sterilize, and medicalize minors of being a bigot. Who accuse people who believe abortion is murder of being sexist, oppressive maniacs. They are hateful, intolerant, and intolerable. They have done that to themselves, people on the right are tired of being insulted and accused of being everything and anything. People on the right speaking up aid now they are looked at as the one throwing the punches. It’s a crazy time to live.
What happened to people agreeing to disagree but there was still a level of common respect. That’s gone, and may never come back.
Common ground used to be in society, the media and politicians have brainwashed people to the point we’re at, if people are so ignorant to fall for it, that’s on them.
