North Carolina will hold its primary election on March 5, 2024, and general election on Nov. 5, 2024. Voting includes everything from President of the United States, Congress, Governor and state offices, county commissioners, Clerk of Court and Register of Deeds and Board of Education. Filing closed at noon on Friday, December 15th.
In Mitchell County filing for commissioners on the Democrat side is Jan Hamilton and Ron McKinney. On the Republican side is incumbent Harley Masters, Lee Ellis, incumbent Brandon Dean Pitman, Clayton Roberts, Dewayne McKinney, Dale Blevins and Loren Grano.
In Yancey County filing for commissioner seats were Democrats Jim Parlier and Hilary Young. On the Republican side were incumbents Sandi Norton, Jeff Whitson and Mark Ledford.
For the Yancey County Board of Education, incumbents Cody Whitson, Edwin Fortner and Will Hensley filed. Also filing for those seats were John Stallings, Lavinia Burnette and Kim Higgins.
For North Carolina District 47 State Senate filing on the Democrat side is Frank Patton Hughes III, and on the Republican side incumbent Ralph Hise.
The Register of Deeds seat in both counties is unopposed.
