Johnny Allen Gouge, age 35, of Elizabethton, TN, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 22nd, 2023. A native of Avery County, he was a son of David and Christine Benfield Gouge and a grandson of June and Irene Benfield. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roy and Mary Gouge.
Johnny loved his all his family dearly. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially ginseng hunting and fishing. He had a heart as big as the sky. He enjoyed being around everyone and joking with them.
Surviving in addition to his parents and maternal grandparents is his wife, Ashley Renee Daniels Gouge; sister, Stephanie Wrobleski (Kevin) of Crossnore; brother, Josh Gouge (Ashley) of Spruce Pine; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lisa and Nathan Harrell of Elizabethton, TN; brothers-in-law: Matthew Daniels (Heaven) and Dustin Daniels (Erika), all of Elizabethton, TN; their fur baby, Moody B; and Randy Benfield of Buck Hill and Timmy Benfield who were like his brothers. He is survived as well by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024 at Big Meadows Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Tommie Carver and Rev. Mikie Laws will officiate. Burial will follow in the Benfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
