Lillian Ballew Autrey died peacefully on December 28, 2023 at home surrounded by family and friends. Lillian was born on February 16, 1936 in Yancey County. She was a daughter of the late Kelly and Mae McMahan Ballew.
She was a member of Browns Creek Baptist Church and a former member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed providing for her family, being a seamstress and cooking and baking. She enjoyed attending church and singing in the choir. She always helped someone in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ranis; her parents; and her three brothers: James, Edd and Dennis Ballew. Also a brother-in-law, Bill Allen.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Laws and husband, Tony; son, Kenneth Autrey and wife, Amy; granddaughter, Mackenzie Coffey and husband, Jeremiah; sisters: Faye Wilson and husband, Calvin, and Louise Allen; and a sister-in-law, Judy Ballew. Also a host of nieces, nephews and friends survive.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 6th at Yancey Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Terry Jones, Rev. Shane Buchanan and her son-in-law, Tony Laws officiating. A graveside service will follow the services in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Dennis Cook, Johnny Cook, Johnny Ballew, Mitchell Allen, Dwayne Ballew and Elijah Allen.
