Barbara Jean Hoyle Autrey, age 84, of Bruce Biddix Lane in Spruce Pine passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at her home.
Born on August 13, 1939 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Manley and Trula Gillespie Hoyle. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Autrey. Also preceding her in death was her son; Danny Autrey, her brothers; C.A. Hoyle, Henry Hoyle and Weldon Hoyle and her sisters; Pauline Buchanan and Irene Buchanan.
Barbara was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her garden and her flowers and she also enjoyed talking and going shopping. She loved her family, spending time with them and taking care of people in need.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter; Linda Crowder of Spruce Pine; her son; Donny Autrey of Spruce Pine; her grandchildren; Jennifer Barnett and husband, Andy, Jonathan McCaffrey, Kristen Biddix, and Ashley Autrey; and nine great grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment will be at 2 pm Thursday, January 4, 2024 in the Tolley Cemetery.
