Kelly Thomas Heard, age 57, of Burnsville, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 5th, 2024. Born in Annapolis, Maryland, she was a daughter of Emery “Icket” and Linda Thomas.
Best known as “Nurse Kelly” to everyone, she truly loved her calling to be a nurse. It was her greatest passion in life to take care of others. From working in Labor and Delivery at the beginning of her career to her time spent being a Home Health nurse, she touched so many lives. Kelly was so loved by her community that even her voice was recognizable when she went for her daily Diet Coke run through the drive-thru at Burger King. She loved to make anyone laugh, especially her children. From dancing in the middle of the road to the Bee Gees, to her “Chin Lady”, it was always a fun time around Kelly. The love that Kelly had for her children was immeasurable, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving in addition to her parents is her husband, Jonathan Heard of South Carolina; her children: Faith Porter (Brian) of Burnsville, Zack Hensley of Burnsville, and Will Hensley (Michelle) of Manchester, UK; her brother, Mark Thomas (Sonya) of Burnsville; two granddaughters, a niece and a nephew, and her “sis”, Tina Matelski. Other extended family and many special friends survive her as well.
A Nightingale Tribute and receiving of friends will be held from 1 until 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 13th, 2024 at North Bend Free Will Baptist Church located at 75 North Bend Drive, Green Mountain, NC 28740.
