Spruce Pine Chosen as Host City for Cycle NC

Cycle NC will begin their annual Mountains to Coast trail in the Mineral City! The twenty-fifth annual ride will begin in Spruce Pine and end in the gem of Brunswick County, Ocean Aisle Beach. This scenic route will showcase over 400 miles of our great state. The ride will begin on October 6th to October 12th with riders checking into Spruce Pine on October 5th. Over 900 cyclists are expected to participate in the ride. In years past, cyclist have traveled from over forty-four states and five different countries. On each day, cyclists will anticipate riding between 55-65 miles. Overnight stays will also be in the following towns: Lenoir, Statesville, Thomasville, Pittsboro, Benson and Elizabethtown. Will Tuttell, Executive Director of Visit NC, said “This ride showcases the states scenic beauty, heritage tourism, visitor attractions, historic sites, and state parks.” The North Carolina Amateur Sports is responsible for organizing the Mountains to Coast Ride. In 1999, NCAS created Cycle North Carolina in collaboration with Visit North Carolina, Capitol Broadcasting Company, and the N.C. Department of Transportation. In the 25 years of the Mountains to Coast ride, they have visited over 100 towns and over 800 communities.
